Changing the lives of young people

Our charity was formed in the summer of 2020 with the purpose of providing skills training and paid employment to young people with learning disabilities, autism and ADHD.

At our core we have a board of seven trustees; all have a particular skill set which ensures we have a robust and knowledgeable internal structure with expertise spanning across Special Educational Needs, Teaching, Human Resources, Business Management and Marketing.

In 2018 Naomi Andrews joined the Hope Learning Community as a project manager, tasked with finding a solution.

I have been the Head of Market Field School for 30 years, dedicated to providing exemplar education for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and supporting their families through the challenges they face. We established our Academy Trust, The Hope Learning Community, to further our vision. Market Field Farm is a further innovation which has the potential to change many of these outcomes for the better - creating futures full of promise and productivity. School days are the best days of your life, they shouldn’t be the only days. When you have a child, it gives birth to a dream. You aspire to do everything in your power to enable their dreams. Imagine being totally and absolutely powerless, how would you feel? Then imagine as you grow older and weaker, they become stronger and more dependent. We must make take action so the dream that is nightmarish for many can change.

Ryan has been working on our new team for four weeks. Ryan loves his new job - he loves being outside working in a team and Ben is so kind and funny. I have seen a change in Ryan’s personality. He looks forward to his days working with Ben and the team. He has all his clothes and pack up ready the night before. Ryan’s confidence and self esteem has been boosted.

  • We planted 20,000 trees on Chelmshoe Farm in November and December 2021. The Market Field Grows Team BGI have done a remarkable job, and the fantastic thing is they will see the legacy of their work grow – literally. In years from now I hope they will all take a walk, see the increased wildlife on the farm and the hedges looking big and bushy and think, “I did that!”Every time I walk the farm, I will look at all the hedges and remember them and thank them! Please send them (and yourself) a big, fat thank you from us and from all the birds and bees!

The team looked at what was required in the region and the vision for Market Field Farm and Market Field Grows were developed. As we head into our third year, we now employ ten young people and two team leaders and plans for Market Field Farm are fully formed.

We believe in collaborating and partnering with local organisations, business and other charities to see our vision made real and support the work of other groups in our region.
